About

The FUDGE Foundation is a 501(c)3 charitable organization that supports and promotes healing among Central Ohioan communities, while working on preventative action to decrease the gun violence in our country by working with our youth and community leaders.

Our Story

On the evening of Saturday, August 3, 2019, Derrick Fudge was spending a joyful night out in Dayton’s Oregon District alongside his son, Dion Green, and other family members. That night of togetherness came to a devastating end in the early hours of August 4th, when Derrick was fatally shot outside a bar. He was one of eight innocent lives lost in the Dayton mass shooting that tragic morning.

In the year that followed, Dion channeled his grief into purpose. He authored Untitled: Act of God/Act of Man, a memoir chronicling his journey through loss and resilience, and founded The FUDGE Foundation—an organization dedicated to supporting individuals affected directly and indirectly by mass shootings, violence, human trafficking, domestic abuse, and other forms of trauma. Today, Dion is a father, author, presenter, certified peer support counselor, and above all, a survivor who continues to turn his pain into a lifeline for others.

Our Mission

We seek to support individuals on their journey of grief and healing from traumatic events through the delivery of support service and advocacy at local, state, and federal levels.

Our Vision

Our vision is to build a community equipped to address, prevent and support survivors of all trauma.
